Every year Corporater grants a Code of Conduct – Social Impact Award to an employee who goes above and beyond to improve the quality of life of others, enable those who can’t help themselves, and unselfishly give their time and intellect to make a social impact. The award comes with a financial grant to be used to further support the employee’s social impact efforts.

The 2018 Corporater Code of Conduct – Social Impact Award was awarded to Salil Kumar on November 24, 2018 for his various community outreach and social impact initiatives in India.

Making Social Impact

Located in Kerala province in India, Saradha Devi Balika Sadanam is an aid project that Salil has been involved in for quite some time. Saradha Devi Balika Sadanam orphanage is the home of 28 local girls who would be living in very poor conditions if they had not been accepted at the facility. The project is 100% supported by donations.

When Salil received the grant awarded through the Corporater Code of Conduct – Social Impact Award, he reached out to the Saradha Devi Balika Sadanam orphanage to see how to best use the funds. Based on the staff’s input, a decision was made to use the donation for the following:

  • New water purification system securing clean water for all inhabitants
  • New mattresses for all the girls
  • New roof for this building to minimize heat transfer, making the rooms more livable in the extreme heat

Corporater’s Tor Inge Vasshus and Joben Panakal further contributed with additional funds to help get the facility painted.

In the summer of 2019, Salil, alongside Tor Inge and Joben, visited Saradha Devi Balika Sadanam orphanage to see the improvements.

“This is a project I am involved in on permanent basis, and so it wasn’t difficult to decide where to donate the funds. The contribution has made the bare essentials for these girls available, and that makes me happy,” said Salil.

Corporater would like to thank Salil for his engagement and pursuing Corporater’s mission to make a social impact.
