A Bar chart is a graphical presentation of data that presents values in bars. It is based on a predefined table template which must be created and configured in the Template panel beforehand. The following types of table templates are available: Data records table, Dataset table, Frequency table, Ranking table, Spreadsheet table, Query table, Custom table.
To create a Bar chart, right click the parent element to which it belongs and choose Add -> Chart -> Bar chart. Double click on the object to configure the chart.
Charts that are incompletely configured will be marked with a yellow warning sign on top of the icon in Configuration Studio, and you will see the text "Required
property missing" in the tooltip.
General
Name - the name "Bar chart" is generated automatically but it may be changed
Description - an optional text describing the object, displayed when you click Description in the drop-down for the chart on Web.
Table
Advanced mode - select to configure the chart based on the table output of an extended expression.
Expression - applies only if you select Advanced mode. Enter the expression that creates the table to use as the basis for the chart.
Corporater BMP requires the syntax to be correct. To check it in the Extended Interface editor, click the Extended Interface quick
access button () and enter your expression there.
In executing the expression, Corporater BMP retrieves all objects that match the query, regardless of their visibility settings and time scope. Hence, construct your expression to accommodate potential object start and end date parameters.
Table - specify the table to use as basis for the chart.
Click the Edit button () and select an existing table.
Alternatively, create a new table as follows:
1. Right-click a category and select Add.
2. From Table, select the table type to use.
3. Configure the table type.
For information on how to configure it, see the corresponding chapter in the current document.
Configuration
Chart title - a text that is displayed as a title at the top of the chart
Trim text - mark the box if long names in the X axis and Legend text should be shortened; the full text can be seen in a tooltip
Stacked - check to show the values in one bar
Stack as percentages - check to create a stacked chart that displays percentages instead of the values

Layout
Auto size - mark to automatically fit the chart to the space available
Height - the height of the chart in pixels (not used with Auto size)
Upper padding - Extra padding at the top of the chart, relative to the length of the axis, when Auto size is used. This is useful when you don't want the highest data value to appear on the edge of the plot area. Default value is 0.01.
Lower padding - Extra padding at the bottom of the chart, relative to the length of the axis, when Auto size is used; default value is 0.01. Lower padding takes effect when it is applicable to the chart, e.g. when the chart contains negative values.
Sorting
Sorting order - Select the sorting algorithm that Corporater BMP uses to sort items.
None
Ascending
Descending
Sort column - click the Edit button () and select the column you want to sort by; the column will be converted to the column number which you will see in Sort column when you click OK. You may also enter the column number directly in Sort column. (Sort column is only available when
Sort by row is not selected)
Visibility
Switch axis - check the box to pivot the chart
Border style - choose the style the object should have:
Frame and Title bar
Frame only
None
Visible - select how the object should appear on the web:
Visible
Not visible
Only visible for Admin - shows the object on the web only for users with admin user role; this applies everywhere, e.g. breadcrumb, organization tree, page content, Reporter, searching, filtered lists, maps, and Workflow.
This can be useful e.g. when adding new elements to "live" objects.
Color
Plot background - the background color for the area behind the bars
Color theme - the color theme to use in the bars
Background - the background color of the area surrounding the chart itself, including the Chart title
Foreground transparency - A value between 0 and 1 indicating the level of transparency of the foreground, i.e. the chart itself, where 0 is completely transparent and 1 is completely opaque. If an invalid value is entered, a message will be displayed and the previous valid value will be reset.
Legend
Legend on Category axis - removes the legend and places each item from the legend as a grouping label on the category axis
Position - where to place the legend in relation to the chart; choose from "North", "East", "South", and "West" or use "None" to not show the legend
Background - the background color for the legend
Reverse order - shows the items in the legend in the opposite order
Font size - the size of the font to use
Number axis
Auto range - check and the values on the axis will be calculated automatically based on the values in the chart
Auto range includes zero - check to always include the value zero in the auto range
Upper value - if Auto range is unchecked specify the upper limit for the values that are to be displayed on the axis
Lower value - if Auto range is unchecked specify the lower limit for the values that are to be displayed on the axis
Label - enter the text to be used as the axis label
Reversed direction - displays the values on the Number axis in reverse order
Auto-tick interval - turns automatic calculation of tick interval on/off
Number axis ticks for values that are formatted as Duration will only be displayed for the Duration types: Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, or Weeks. No Number axis ticks will be displayed when other formatting is used.
Tick interval - set the size of the tick interval manually when Auto tick interval is turned off
Font size - the size of the font to use
Plot markers - the plot markers to use as a visual representations for specific values on the axis. Click the associated Plot marker button () and select an existing number axis plotline. Alternatively, create a new number axis plotline. For information, see Chart plotlines.
On Web, each plot marker displays as a horizontal line on the chart's axis.
Category axis
Reversed direction - displays the values on the Category axis in reverse order for each period
Font size - the size of the font to use
Plot markers - the plot markers to use as a visual representations for specific intersection points between a value that you set and the values in a specific row.
Click the associated Plot marker button () and select an existing category axis plotline. Alternatively, create a new category axis plotline. For information, see Chart plotlines.
The row that Corporater BMP considers for the intersection point is the one in Row for the respective category axis plotline.
On Web, each plot marker displays as a vertical line on the chart's axis.
Label - enter the text to be used as the axis's label.
Item labels
Visible - whether to show the actual values in the chart itself; when selected, Override format becomes available
Override format - check to change the format of the values that are displayed in the chart; the properties in Format will become active when Override format is selected
Format - enter optional formatting information (Prefix, Type, Decimal, Postfix, and/or Color) (Format type, Prefix, Postfix, Decimal places, and/or Color style). If nothing is entered Type and Decimal Format type and Decimal places will have the default values "Normal" and "2". See Formatting for more information.
Font size - the size of the font to use
Audit
Modified by - the name of the last user to make changes to the object.
Last modified - the date and time when the object was last changed.
Created by - the name of the user who created the object.
Created - the date and time when the object was created.
ID
ID - a unique ID for the object.
By
default, Corporater BMP assigns consecutive numbers to new objects.
You can change the ID to a value of choice that can include either letters or letter and number combinations.
The ID mustn't contain only numbers, include special characters such as ) ( . * } { + < > [ ], or match the name of a default object type in Corporater BMP.
Lifetime
Lifetime start - select the first day the object and its available children are valid.
Lifetime end - select the last day the object and its available children are valid.
For more information on how to limit the time period during which an object is available to users, see Time span.
Layout
Row span - number of rows used by an element (Row layout only)
Column span - number of columns used by an element (Row layout only)
Width - the space to be used by the object as per row layout; the number must be postfixed with the unit to use, e.g. 40%, 100px, 10cm, 4in
The Width property is a string, so any html size units (i.e. "%", "px", "em", "mm", "cm",
"in", "pt") may be used. However, bear in mind that when you set fixed widths on objects and there isn't enough space, some of them will be rendered on the next row. We therefore recommend always using %.
Area - choose the part of the page where you want the object to be placed, Header, Body or Footer, when a Column Layout where Header and/or Footer has been selected is used; see Page setup for more information (Column layout only)
The Area property will only appear if the Tab selected is of type Column, and Header or Footer is enabled in Tab.
Column - the column in a Column layout the object should be placed in (Column layout only)
Tab - click the icon and select the tab in the Page setup on which to display the object. Note that the Page setup to choose from is not the one selected on the current object, but the one on the parent object. The tab must belong to the chosen Page setup. New tabs can be created here; see Shared web items for more information.
See Web Layout for more information on layouts.
