A time span is a time interval with a custom duration.
You can use it to control the time period in which a scorecard is accessible to users on Web.
You can create multiple time spans and then individually apply them to scorecards in Corporater BMP. As such, the scorecards become accessible to users on Web for different periods of time.
The time span functionality applies at the following levels:
Application - default time span and custom time span
Object - scorecard-specific time span
User - extended time span
Based on your organizational needs, you can configure the time span functionality at a single or at each level.
To configure time span across Corporater BMP, you must access the Time spans category in Shared web items.
The Time spans category includes a standard, initial time span called a default time span.
It contains no specific start or end dates and applies to each scorecard in the application.
Each scorecard is set to be available in the time interval of ten years before the current period and ten years after the current period (i.e., -10y to +10y).
Because the default time span is a standard BMP object, you may not delete it.
In addition to the default time span, you can create custom time spans and assign them to individual scorecards.
Custom time spans follow the same rules and have the same configuration as the default time span.
To create a new, custom time span, right-click the Time spans category, select Add, then Time span.
Double-click the item to configure it.
General
Name - the name of the time span. The default name is "Time span".
Description - an optional text that describes the time span.
Miscellaneous
Open time span start - the first day of the Open time span's time interval.
This is the day starting which scorecards are accessible on Web to regular users.
Click the drop-down arrow button to select a date from the calendar.
Corporater BMP includes the start date in the time span's interval. For example, if you use '01 April' as the value for Open time span start, each
scorecard whose configuration includes the custom time span becomes available on Web to regular users starting April 1.
Open time span end - the last day of the Open time span's time interval.
This is the day after which scorecards are no longer accessible on Web to regular users.
Click the date calculation button () to specify a date based on a date adjusting function. The function defines the last day of the time
span relative to the current date (i.e., 'today').
Users with special access rights, such as with admin access privileges, users who are members of the Admin access group, and users with extended time span access
, continue to have access the scorecards after the specified day.
Corporater BMP doesn't include the end date in the time span's interval. For example, if you use '01 May' as the value for Open time span end, each
scorecard whose configuration includes the custom time span will no longer available on Web to regular users starting April 30.
Global time span start - the first date of the Global time span's time interval.
This is the day starting which scorecards are accessible on Web to each type of user, including to users with special access rights, such as users with admin access privileges, users who are members of the Admin access group, and users with extended time span access.
Any date prior to this day appears as unavailable in the period selector to users on Web.
Click the drop-down arrow button to select a date from the calendar.
The Global time span time interval applies only to scorecards whose configuration doesn't include a specified time span or lifetime interval. If you specify a time
span interval in the configuration of a scorecard, Corporater BMP applies that time span interval instead of the Global time span interval to both the scorecard and its children objects, if available.
Corporater BMP includes the start date in the time span's interval. For example, if you use '01 April' as the value for Global time span start, each
scorecard whose configuration includes the custom time span becomes available on Web to users starting April 1.
Global time span end - the last date of the Global time span's time interval.
This is the date after which scorecards are no longer accessible on Web to each type of user, including to users with admin access privileges, users who are members of the Admin access group, and users with extended time span access.
Any date following this day appears as unavailable in the period selector to users on Web.
Corporater BMP doesn't include the end date in the time span's interval. For example, if you use '01 May' as the value for Global time span end, each
scorecard whose configuration includes the custom time span will no longer available on Web to users starting April 30.
Unlike Open time span end, that's an adjustable time function, Global time span end is a fixed date.
Default login time - the date to display as the current date for the user who accesses the scorecard.
Click the date calculation button () to specify a date based on a date adjusting function. The function defines the last day of the time
span relative to the current date (i.e., 'today').
On Web, when a user navigates from a scorecard with a custom time span that includes a Default login time value to a new scorecard with a different custom
time span and a different Default login time value, Corporater BMP displays the previously selected period as the Default login time value for the new scorecard.
If a custom time span includes a date value for both Open time span start and Global time span start, and the date value for Open time span start is before that of the Global time span start, Corporater BMP applies the date value of Global time span start as the Default login time to each scorecard
whose configuration includes the custom time span.
Audit
Modified by - the name of the last user to make changes to the object.
Last modified - the date and time when the object was last changed.
Created by - the name of the user who created the object.
Created - the date and time when the object was created.
ID
ID - a unique ID for the object.
By
default, Corporater BMP assigns consecutive numbers to new objects.
You can change the ID to a value of choice that can include either letters or letter and number combinations.
The ID mustn't contain only numbers, include special characters such as ) ( . * } { + < > [ ], or match the name of a default object type in Corporater BMP.
Access control
Read accessors - click the Edit button () and authorize one or more users and user groups to view the object on Web.
Add accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to add new objects to the object on Web.

Users and user groups who own the object have full access rights to it.
Override access profile - select for the object's access control setting to outrank the object's corresponding access settings in profiles.
Corporater BMP applies Open time span and Global time span intervals as follows:
1. If you don't set a Global time span and an Open time span interval, Corporater BMP makes each scorecard available on Web to users in the time interval of ten years before the current period and ten years after the current period (i.e., -10y to +10y).
2. If you don't set a Global time span but you do set an Open time span interval, such as from Jan 1st, 2013 to +2Y:
For users with extended time span access, Corporater BMP makes each scorecard available on Web to users in the time interval of ten years before the current period and ten years after the current period (i.e., -10y to +10y).
For users without extended time span access, Corporater BMP makes each scorecard available on Web to users in the time interval of Jan 1st 2013 to current date +2y.
If the current date (server date) is April 2015, then the time interval will be Jan 1st, 2013 to Mar 31st, 2017.
3. If you set a Global time span interval, such as from Jan 1st, 2010 to Dec 31st, 2015, and an Open time span interval, such as from Jan 1st, 2013 to +2Y:
For users with extended time span access, Corporater BMP makes each scorecard available on Web to users in the time interval of Jan 1st 2010 to Dec 31st 2015.
For users without extended time span access, Corporater BMP makes each scorecard available on Web to users in the time interval of Jan 1st 2013 to current date +2y or Dec 31st 2015, based on which date is first.
If the current date (server date) is April 2015, then the time interval will be Jan 1st, 2013 to Dec 31st, 2015 (i.e., the end date of the global time span interval).
You can use the object-level time span to override the application-level time span settings for one or more specific scorecards.
As such, you can further restrict their availability on Web to users without extended time span access.
For example, if the Open time span interval is from 2013-05-01 to 2013-08-01 and you set the Time span interval for a scorecard from 2013-06-01 to 2013-07-01, then the scorecard will be accessible on Web to users only from 2013-06-01 to 2013-07-01.
If the Open time span interval includes a scorecard's Time span interval, the scorecard will be accessible on Web to users for the entire duration of the Open time span interval.
For example, if the Open time span interval is from 2013-05-01 to 2013-08-01 and you set the Time span interval for a scorecard from 2013-04-01 to 2013-09-01, the scorecard will be accessible on Web to users from 2013-05-01 to 2013-08-01.
To define the time span for a scorecard, use the dedicated Time span property from Advanced properties.
Click the Time span button () and select an existing or create a new custom time span.
For a scorecard to be accessible on Web to users, it must be accessible for the entire selected Time span period. For example, if you set the Period type for a scorecard to 'M Month' and its Time span interval from April 13 to April 24, and the current period is April, then the scorecard won't be accessible on Web to users. Corporater BMP won't include April as an available
month in the period selector.
Time span is different from lifetime (validity period). If a scorecard's lifetime
(validity period) is outside its time span interval, the scorecard remains accessible only to users with special access rights, such as users with admin access
privileges, users who are members of the Admin access group, and users with extended time span access.
Corporater BMP applies the lifetime (validity period) with priority over time span.
For example, if a scorecard's lifetime (validity) period is between 2013-06-01 to 2013-07-01 and its time span interval is from 2013-05-01 to 2013-08-01, then the scorecard will be accessible on Web to users only from 2013-06-01 to 2013-07-01.
To configure time span at user-level, you must access the Access Profiles Manager.
Extended time span access is a flag that you can set against user profiles. Corporater BMP uses this flag to determine the rights of the users that are associated with these profiles with respect to time span.
Users without this flag are regular users. As such, Corporater BMP confines them to the specified Open time span interval.
Users without this flag have access for the entire Global time span interval.
By default, administrators don't have the extended time span access flag.
