The Layout section of object configurations contains the options that are available for configuring the appearance of each object.
There are two types of Web Layout
Column layout - you define how many columns the tab should have and which column each object should be placed in.
Row layout - define how many columns the tab should have and objects are placed in columns automatically according to their order in the model. You can adjust the size of objects manually to some extent. This is comparable to the layout type in Corporater BMP vers. 3.x.
The following properties can be set on all objects on tabs regardless which type of layout is used:
Height - used to determine how much space is designated for objects such as PDF views or URL views. Height is not relevant for other objects where necessary space is allotted automatically.
Page setup - click the icon to the right and select the Page setup to use. New Page setups can be created here; see Page setup for more information.
Show Tabs - whether to display the Tabs/Tab bar in the web page
Show Top bar - whether to display the Top bar in the web page
Tab - click the icon and select the Tab on which to display the object. New tabs can be created here; see Tab for more information.
The following properties can be set on objects on tabs with Column based layout:
Column - which column the object should be in
The following properties can be set on objects on tabs with Row based layout:
Row span - number of rows used by an element
Some objects have predefined row span and changes to this property will have no effect.
Column span - number of columns used by an element
The default Column span value for full screen is four.
Each tab is divided into a certain number of columns where scorecard objects can be placed. This is set up in Tab. When you set Column span for an object, you define how many columns it should span over.
If you set Column span to 2, two cells are reserved for your object. The Width property determines how much of this space you actually use. This means that Column span = 4 and Width = 50% will look similar to setting Column span = 2 and Width = 100%. The difference is that in the latter case another object can use the two remaining columns.
If you want half your screen filled, you set Column span = 4 and Width = 50% if you do NOT want to allow another object to take up the remaining space on the right. Set Column span = 2 and Width = 100% if you DO want to allow another object to occupy that space.
Default Row span is 1. If you set Row span = 2 AND Column width = 2 and Width = 100% you can place one object in one column and two objects in the other column beside it.
Example 1:
You want to place two objects next to each other on the scorecard. We assume that the Layout in use has 4 columns.
To place two objects next to each other, move the second one directly under the first and specify the following values for both of them:
Column span = 2
Width = 100%
Each of them will fill up half of the screen, i.e. they will be placed next to each other.
Example 2:
You want to place one object below another on the scorecard. You want the first one to use half the screen with nothing beside it, and the other to use the whole screen. We assume that the Layout in use has 4 columns.
Move the second object directly under the first and specify the following values:
Object 1
Column span = 4
Width = 50%
Object 2
Column span = 4
Width = 100%
Example 3:
You want to place one object in the left column and two objects beside it in the right column.
Place the objects you want in the right column directly below the one you want in the left column and specify the following values for all of them:
Column span = 2
Width = 100%
In addition set the following on the first one:
Row span = 2
Changing Number of columns in the layout in Tab will affect how these examples work.
