A Function risk factor is something that needs to be evaluated as part of a Risk assessment where the Probability and/or Consequence are expressed as a function. This means that they will be calculated automatically.
Function risk factors are inserted into Risk factor lists.
By copying a Function risk factor to the Template model, you can link it to other objects across models, and thus use it across the system.
The Probability function and Consequence function for a Function risk factor may be changed by users who have been given access to do so, by clicking
Edit in the drop-down menu for it on the web, in addition to editing in Configuration Studio .
The Risk value of a risk factor is calculated as Consequence x Probability. The Priority bullet shows the color that corresponds to the Risk value of the Function risk factor, according to the configuration in Risk options in Global settings.
Function risk factors with a Risk value of 0 will not appear in any Risk chart.
Note that the behavior of Probability and Consequence is asymmetric, i.e. anything
below the first limit in Function risk factor will calculate as 0, and anything above max. limit will produce the max. Consequence or Probability.
To add a Function risk factor element to a Risk factor list, right click the parent element to which it belongs, choose Add -> Function risk factor.
General
Name - the name "Function risk factor" is generated automatically but it may be changed
Description - an optional text describing the function
Factor type - the type of risk factor; this is also used when to determine the look of any Risk charts the Risk factor is plotted to. Choose from:
Risk - a factor that can influence the end result negatively
Opportunity - a factor that can influence the end result positively
Both - a factor that can influence the end result either positively or negatively
When you change Factor type to "BOTH", you must also reset the Consequence limits to reflect that. If this is not done, the risk value will shift to the left and give an incorrect risk.
Probability
Probability function - the function that is to be used to calculate the value of Probability, may be entered here or users may be given access to enter a function on the web ; if the result of the function is a decimal it will be rounded to the nearest integer
Probability and Consequence functions may contain nodes, numbers, mathematical operators,
and Time functions. It is important that the syntax is correct. In Configuration Studio, you may write directly in the Function field,
if you know the syntax, or you can click the icon the right of the field to open the Function calculator.
Function risk factor functions with 'this' will use the organization of the first object in the Affects list of the Risk assessment. This is because Risk assessments are not organization-based objects, so a Risk assessment does not have an organization context.
Probability limits - enter the values that represent the upper limit of each sector
Function risk factors must have Probability and Consequence limits set. This can only
be done in Configuration Studio.
The values displayed in the Probability and Consequence columns on the web are not
the results of the Probability and Consequence functions but are the calculated results relative to the Probability and
Consequence limits.
Example:
The Probability limits are 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, and 75. The Probability function returns 40, which means it is in the third sector, giving Probability the value 3.
If the value of the Probability function is below the lowest Probability limit then
it is assumed to have a value of 0. This also applies to Consequence.
Example:
The Probability limits are 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. The Probability function returns 5, which means it is below the lowest limit (10). Probability will be given the value 0, resulting in a Risk value of 0 and no Priority bullet.
The number of limits in use corresponds to the dimension that is defined in Settings. If five limit values have been entered
but the dimension defined is 8x8, the last three limit values will be zero (0). If eight limit values have been entered but the dimension defined is less, the excess limit values will be ignored.
Consequence
Consequence function - the function that is to be used to calculate the value of Consequence, may be entered here or users may be given access to enter it on the web ; if the result of the function is a decimal it will be rounded to the nearest integer
A Risk factor or Function Risk factor where Consequence is expressed as a negative value is considered to be an Opportunity.
Consequence limits - enter the values that represent the upper limit of each sector. This can only be done in Configuration Studio.
See examples under Probability (above) for more information on how Probability and Consequence values are calculated.
Configuration
Icon - click the Icon button () and select an icon to assign to the function risk factor.
The icon must be a valid, uploaded file resource.
You can use as icon an image of any file type. However, the recommended file format is .svg.
Corporater BMP resizes the image to a standard size.
The icon displays on Web only, in the tooltip for that risk factor in a risk chart.
Alternative text - an optional text for screen readers to use to describe the icon to visually impaired users on Web.
Information
Linked to - the template object that the function risk factor is linked to.
Function
Node type - click the icon to the right of the field and select the node type to be used in the functions. Choose from the node types
Actual, Budget, Forecast, or Target, in addition to custom node types that may have been created in your system. Any Node types that are specified in the functions will override the type selected here.
Audit
Modified by - the name of the last user to make changes to the object.
Last modified - the date and time when the object was last changed.
Created by - the name of the user who created the object.
Created - the date and time when the object was created.
ID
ID - a unique ID for the object.
By
default, Corporater BMP assigns consecutive numbers to new objects.
You can change the ID to a value of choice that can include either letters or letter and number combinations.
The ID mustn't contain only numbers, include special characters such as ) ( . * } { + < > [ ], or match the name of a default object type in Corporater BMP.
Miscellaneous Lifetime
Lifetime start - select the first day the object and its available children are valid.
Lifetime end - select the last day the object and its available children are valid.
For more information on how to limit the time period during which an object is available to users, see Time span.
Layout
Page setup - click the Page Setup button () and select a Page setup. Note that the Page setup selected here will affect child elements, not the current element itself. New Page setups can be created here; see Shared web items for more information.
Row span - number of rows used by an element (Row layout only)
Column span - number of columns used by an element (Row layout only)
Width - the space to be used by the object as per row layout; the number must be postfixed with the unit to use, e.g. 40%, 100px, 10cm, 4in
The Width property is a string, so any html size units (i.e. "%", "px", "em", "mm", "cm",
"in", "pt") may be used. However, bear in mind that when you set fixed widths on objects and there isn't enough space, some of them will be rendered on the next row. We therefore recommend always using %.
Area - choose the part of the page where you want the object to be placed, Header, Body or Footer, when a Column Layout where Header and/or Footer has been selected is used; see Page setup for more information (Column layout only)
The Area property will only appear if the Tab selected is of type Column, and Header or Footer is enabled in Tab.
Column - the column in a Column layout the object should be placed in (Column layout only)
Tab - click the icon and select the tab in the Page setup on which to display the object. Note that the Page setup to choose from is not the one selected on the current object, but the one on the parent object. The tab must belong to the chosen Page setup. New tabs can be created here; see Shared web items for more information.
See Web Layout for more information on layouts.
Visibility
Show Top Bar - displays the top bar on the object's page on Web.
Show Menu Bar - displays the menu bar on the object's page on Web.
The menu bar includes the page name, status gauge and trend arrow where applicable, as well as the logo for the current organization.
Show Menu Button - check if you want the button that opens the Options menu for the object to be available on the web page; among other things, the Options menu contains alternatives for editing and deleting. The contents of the Options menu can be configured in Page setup.
Show Tabs - displays the tab bar on the object's page on Web.
Show Icon/Status - select which icon to display in the Title bar. You can choose between:
Table type icon - the standard icon for the object
Status gauge icon - a status gauge used as icon
No icon
Access control
Read accessors - click the Edit button () and authorize one or more users and user groups to view the object on Web.
Add accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to add new objects to the object on Web.
Write accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to edit the object on Web.
Delete accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to delete the object on Web.
Ownership - click the Edit button () and grant ownership of the object to one or more users and user groups.
Users and user groups who own the object have full access rights to it.
Override access profile - select for the object's access control setting to outrank the object's corresponding access settings in profiles.
