Create an Action button that users can click on Web. Based on the configuration of the button, Corporater BMP can perform one of the following when a user clicks it on Web:
Run a predefined Workflow rule ( Event rule, Follow-up rule, Additional rule, or Action group) or Transformer item ( Transformer project or project group).
Add an object to a specific object or location on Web using a functionality that's similar to Addable items.
If the button is not set up correctly or the user does not have access to the button or the job connected to it, the button will be hidden from the user. Access to use the button can be configured in the usual way using Access control.
Transformer projects that are connected to an Action button do not have to be enabled for web. There is no option to load the source, as in web Transformer jobs. The source that is defined in the Transformer project will be used as input.
There is no additional logging/messaging connected to the button, only the normal logging done in Workflow or Transformer. On the web, the user will only see a message stating whether the job was run or not. That message is not related to the state of the job: errors, no data loaded, etc. The Workflow or Transformer logs in Configuration Studio will contain any error messages or warnings.
Users who do not normally have access to add objects (initiatives or similar) will have rights to add them via an Action button. When a user is given access to the button itself, he/she is implicitly also given rights to run the job, regardless of what is defined in Access control.
When a Workflow Run report action is started via an Action button, t he context of the report reflects the user who is logged in. That user will have the necessary access to run the report. this.user will resolve to the current user and Created by/Last modified will also be that user.
Action buttons may be placed on most objects but not in the .
To create an Action button, right click the parent element to which it belongs, choose Add -> Miscellaneous -> Action button.
