ANALYTICS
Sometimes you need to examine your figures more closely, by separating them or breaking them down into more fundamental elements for comparison. E.g. you may want to create a table or a chart that compares different figures from different organizations.
The Dataset table is the starting point for creating tables or charts for such ad hoc comparisons. Create a Dataset table in the usual way, as described in the Dataset table section. Include all the objects that are of interest in the comparison.
Now right click the Dataset table and choose Add -> View. Adding a View object indicates that table views and charts the Dataset table is connected to can be used for "benchmarking" (comparison) on the web. Double click the View object to configure it.
Configuration
|
General
Name - the name "View" is generated automatically but it may be changed
Description - an optional text describing the object
Audit
Modified by - the name of the last user to make changes to the object.
Last modified - the date and time when the object was last changed.
Created by - the name of the user who created the object.
Created - the date and time when the object was created.
The Custom tab contains three columns. Each of them corresponds to one of the panels in the Dataset table configuration. The objects (organizations, nodes, etc.) you selected in the Dataset table are displayed here. Mark all of the objects that you want to be able to use in Benchmarking.
ID
ID - a unique ID for the object.
By
default, Corporater BMP assigns consecutive numbers to new objects.
You can change the ID to a value of choice that can include either letters or letter and number combinations.
The ID mustn't contain only numbers, include special characters such as ) ( . * } { + < > [ ], or match the name of a default object type in Corporater BMP.
Access control
Read accessors - click the Edit button () and authorize one or more users and user groups to view the object on Web.
Add accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to add new objects to the object on Web.
Write accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to edit the object on Web.
Delete accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to delete the object on Web.
Ownership - click the Edit button () and grant ownership of the object to one or more users and user groups.
Users and user groups who own the object have full access rights to it.
Override access profile - select for the object's access control setting to outrank the object's corresponding access settings in profiles.
When you preview a Dataset table that contains a View, the preview will show all the objects that are marked in the View. If the Dataset table has more than one View,
the first one will always be used in the preview.
Next, you must create a Table view or a chart in the BMP model panel that you can use to display your figures on the web. Connect the Dataset table you just created to the table view or chart and configure in the usual way. See the appropriate section in the User documentation for more information.
When This organization is used in an axis in the Dataset table, only "this" is supported,
not "+this" or "*this".
E.g. if you specify 2 in both Previous and Next, you will always see a total of 5 periods with the selected period in the middle, no matter what period is selected in the Period selector. If you mark January when the Period selector shows February you will always see "the month previous to the selected month" as you move to different periods. This will also be the case for Time datasets that span multiple years. Example: If you check "January 2013" this does not really mean January 2013. It means that you have checked "the first month in the current year". So when you go to 2014, January 2014 is checked instead because it is the first month in the current year.
If you use Period = year in a Time dataset, we recommend that the name format "Long" is used (January 2013) to avoid confusion. |
There are two types of Access control that affect the Benchmarking functionality:
Access to add views to a Dataset table is controlled by Access control for the Dataset Table. This controls whether users can add views, i.e. gives Add access, according to normal access control rules.
Read, Write, and Add access to views is handled by Access control for the View. If an administrator adds a View, Access control is activated and the Everyone group is added and given "read" access. With read access, users can select the view and see it. They can also change the settings on the web but they cannot save them.
If a user other than an administrator adds a View, Access control is activated and ownership is given to that user.
If Override access profile for view: <view name> is marked for a view, only uses who have specifically been given ownership or access rights to the view will see it on the web page.
Profiles are not used in connection with Benchmarking.
To display a View in a report use the Template listing for the table view or chart that is displayed on the web (not the Dataset table). Copy the Expandable table from the Template listing for the table view and/or the Chart image from the chart into the Template for the report.
Next, create a Reports list object in the BMP model. Add a Report reference to it and configure it as described in the documentation. In the Report field select the Report that you created above.
Now go to the web page containing the chart and/or table view. Make changes to the view if desired. When you generate the report it will use the settings that you have selected even if they have not been saved.
You can create a report that always uses the same view, by linking the table view or chart used in the report to a specific view instead of a Dataset table.
