Property Management

The Property Management panel is opened when you choose Defaults in the View menu. It can also be found under Structure in the Windows menu.

The Property Management panel contains a list of objects. By expanding one of these objects you can see its properties, e.g. Name and Description.

By default, each object in Corporater BMP has a number of properties. The default properties for each object are described in the section documenting that object. Users can see some of these properties when they click Description in the drop-down menu for an object on the web.

From version 4.1.2.0, the Priority property is available in Scorecard, Perspective, Strategic objective, KPI, Strategic initiative, Risk assessment, and Risk factor in Property management, making it possible to filter objects based on Risk status.

For a KPI, for example, this is done by searching through the child objects of the KPI to find any object that has risk priority, such as risk assessment tables and risk factor lists, and returning the Risk Priority of that object.

For Strategic Objectives, the first object that matches the above criteria is the KPI, so in most cases, a Strategic Objective will return the same Priority as the first KPI rather than any risk tables or similar that are placed directly on the Strategic Objective. This can be confusing if the KPI does not have any risk items under it, while the Strategic Objective has a Risk factor list. The KPI will be selected first, resulting in no Priority displayed, and the risk list will be ignored.

In Property Management, or Global model setup, you can set up additional properties for the objects in your system or modify existing ones.

When you double click a default property, you can set the following:

Web editability

Visibility rule

Add Visibility rules to control which properties for an object type should be visible for editing on the web. This makes it possible to show different sets of properties on different objects of the same type, depending on conditions that are met. For example, you can make a rule that says that the Progress field on Strategic initiatives should be available for editing only for users who are set as Responsible.

Multiple Visibility rules may be configured for an object. If overlapping rules are configured, the most restrictive rule will be used.  For example, if one rule sets a property to be read-only, and the next rule sets the property to be visible, the property will be read-only, regardless of the order in which the rules are applied.

To create a Visibility rule for an object, right click it in the Property Management panel and choose Add -> Visibility rule.

Visibility rules define conditions that must be met. They are configured in the same way as Filtered lists.

When you have configured the conditions that are to be met, you can select the properties that should be "hidden" or "read only" under Operations. For each property, choose "Hide" or "Disable" "Read only" in the first drop-down list and the desired property in the second one. You may add any number of Operations.

All properties can be edited at once by using the Hide all and Read only all buttons, making it easier to edit long lists of properties. If you add a new property after a Visibility rule has been configured, it will be visible by default.

To set all properties of an object to "Read only" after a certain date is passed, for instance for compliance and audit purposes, you can create a rule such as End date <     (empty after <, which indicates "today").

If no Rule configuration has been configured, any "Hide" or "Read only" settings will apply to all objects of that type. You can use this to remove a property from editing for all objects of a certain type, but it will still be visible on the web.

Additional and Historical properties

In addition to the default properties, Additional and Historical properties can be added to all objects in Corporater BMP. This is done by right clicking the desired object in the Property management model and choosing Add and the desired property. New properties will be added to ALL objects of that type.

When you add a new property to an object in Property Management, it is also added to ALL existing objects of that type.
