The Property Management panel is opened when you choose Defaults in the View menu. It can also be found under Structure in the Windows menu.
The Property Management panel contains a list of objects. By expanding one of these objects you can see its properties, e.g. Name and Description.
By default, each object in Corporater BMP has a number of properties. The default properties for each object are described in the section documenting that object. Users can see some of these properties when they click Description in the drop-down menu for an object on the web.
For a KPI, for example, this is done by searching through the child objects of the KPI to find any object that has risk priority, such as risk assessment tables and risk factor lists, and returning the Risk Priority of that object.
For Strategic Objectives, the first object that matches the above criteria is the KPI, so in most cases, a Strategic Objective will return the same Priority as the first KPI rather than any risk tables or similar that are placed directly on the Strategic Objective. This can be confusing if the KPI does not have any risk items under it, while the Strategic Objective has a Risk factor list. The KPI will be selected first, resulting in no Priority displayed, and the risk list will be ignored. |
In Property Management, or Global model setup, you can set up additional properties for the objects in your system or modify existing ones.
When you double click a default property, you can set the following:
Features
Features - select the visibility for the property when editing the object on the web; use these alternatives:
Visible - the property will be available for editing for users with necessary access
Not visible - the property will not be available for editing
Visible when values - when the property has values, it will be available for editing for users with necessary access
Web editability
Editable on web - whether users who are not administrators should have access to edit the property on the web page; choose between
Restricted - the property will not be visible for non-administrators
Unrestricted - the property can be edited by users who are not administrators
Users who are to be able to edit properties on the web page must be given Property access in addition to Web access in Users and Groups, and they must also be mapped with the Full access profile full access rights to the scorecard where the objects they should be able to edit are located.
Configuration
Display in tables as - how the property should be displayed in the table when there isn't enough room
Full text - the text shows in its full length on a single line
Wrapped - the text shows in multiple lines if there is not enough space on one line
Truncated - the text is cut off with '...' if there is not enough space to show the full text. Full text is shown on mouse over.
Properties that are never shown in tables or that cannot be truncated or wrapped, such as dates, statuses, icons, numbers, and progress, do not have this option. They will always be shown in full text.
Override name - if you want to give the property a different name enter the desired text here; if the field is left blank the standard name of the property will be used
Name changes made here will not affect Reporter tags for properties.
Information
Information - enter helpful text for users who view the object that includes this property on Web. For example, a note on how to input data in that property field for the object.
Click the Lookup () icon and enter the text.
The property supports both plain and rich text.
For Corporater BMP to display text that's specific to the object, add a text property to the object and then include a tag that references that property in the Information property. For example, a myInfo property and a ${this.object.myInfo} tag in Information.
Corporater BMP attaches an Info icon to the property on Web. The icon is visible for the property as follows:
When a user clicks the icon, your text displays in a collapsible Info section.
On the Edit page for the object that includes the property.
On the Add page for the object that includes the property.
In the inline editing mode of a description view for the object that includes the property.
When a user clicks the icon, your text displays in a collapsible Info section.
Linked to - the name of the related default system property.
Audit
Modified by - the name of the last user to make changes to the object.
Last modified - the date and time when the object was last changed.
Created by - the name of the user who created the object.
Created - the date and time when the object was created.
ID
ID - a unique ID for the object.
By
default, Corporater BMP assigns consecutive numbers to new objects.
You can change the ID to a value of choice that can include either letters or letter and number combinations.
The ID mustn't contain only numbers, include special characters such as ) ( . * } { + < > [ ], or match the name of a default object type in Corporater BMP.
Add Visibility rules to control which properties for an object type should be visible for editing on the web. This makes it possible to show different sets of properties on different objects of the same type, depending on conditions that are met. For example, you can make a rule that says that the Progress field on Strategic initiatives should be available for editing only for users who are set as Responsible.
Multiple Visibility rules may be configured for an object. If overlapping rules are configured, the most restrictive rule will be used. For example, if one rule sets a property to be read-only, and the next rule sets the property to be visible, the property will be read-only, regardless of the order in which the rules are applied.
To create a Visibility rule for an object, right click it in the Property Management panel and choose Add -> Visibility rule.
Visibility rules define conditions that must be met. They are configured in the same way as Filtered lists.
When you have configured the conditions that are to be met, you can select the properties that should be "hidden" or "read only" under Operations. For each property, choose "Hide" or "Disable" "Read only" in the first drop-down list and the desired property in the second one. You may add any number of Operations.
All properties can be edited at once by using the Hide all and Read only all buttons, making it easier to edit long lists of properties. If you add a new property after a Visibility rule has been configured, it will be visible by default.
To set all properties of an object to "Read only" after a certain date is passed, for instance for compliance and audit purposes, you can create a rule such as End date < (empty after <, which indicates "today").
If no Rule configuration has been configured, any "Hide" or "Read only" settings will apply to all objects of
that type. You can use this to remove a property from editing for all objects of a certain type, but it will still be visible on the web.
In addition to the default properties, Additional and Historical properties can be added to all objects in Corporater BMP. This is done by right clicking the desired object in the Property management model and choosing Add and the desired property. New properties will be added to ALL objects of that type.
When you add a new property to an object in Property Management, it is also added to ALL existing objects of that type.
