In addition to each object's default properties, the Custom properties and Historical properties listed below can be added to all objects in Corporater BMP. This is done by right clicking in Property settings management and choosing Add and the desired property. Then link the property to the object in Type management. The new property will be added to ALL objects of that type. These Custom properties are available: Text property, Rich text property, URL property, Number property, Function property, Node type function, Token property, Date property, Boolean property, List property, Reference property, as well as Historical properties.
When you add a new property to an object in Property Type Management it is also added to ALL existing objects of that type. These properties will not automatically appear in tables containing the objects; Visibility must be set to "Visible" or "Visible when value" and the column must be set to "Visible" or "Hidden" in the Column configuration for the table. By default new properties are "Not available" in Column configuration.
Each property can be configured, e.g. you can change its name, specify whether or not it should be visible on the web, etc., as described below. The name you give it is the one that you will see when you configure the object in Configuration Studio or view its Description on the web.
The property ID for custom and historical properties is used in Reporter references and column IDs in tables. You can find the relevant id in the Template listing for the owning object.
Custom properties can have the same names as already existing (system) properties. However, Corporater maintains you use unique IDs for custom properties as a general rule.
If a custom property has the same ID value as a system property, Corporater BMP attaches a warning overlay to its display icon in Configuration Studio. If a new system property becomes available after an upgrade, Corporater BMP attaches the overlay to each custom property whose ID matches that of the new system property.
If an extended expression references a property ID that belongs to a system and a custom property, and both properties belong to the same object type, Corporater BMP uses the custom property instead of the system one to resolve the expression.
Custom properties are not internationalized, i.e. they will only be available in the language in which they are created, as is the case with all properties that have been specifically set. See the Language section for information on how language settings work and can be configured.
Use a Text property to add Vision, Mission, Main Goal etc. to a Scorecard, or Intention, Data source, Type, Frequency etc. to a KPI.
