File resources are objects that contain file data. They can be loaded into the system by explicitly copying files in Configuration Studio, or they can be created as a result of a Transformer run, a Reporter run, etc.
External file resources can be used to gain direct access to files on the server or via an FTP server or Internet.
File resources can be displayed on the web page, e.g. to include a document in a web page where the document is stored as a file resource. They can also be used as source data in Transformer runs and they can be exported via Configuration Studio.
Many types of files can be used as File resources, e.g. an image file to be used as a logo or in a Map view, a report created in Reporter to be displayed in a scorecard, an Excel file or .csv file to be used as a Transformer source.
Most File resources can be previewed by clicking the Refresh button (
)
in the Preview panel. To preview Resources of types that require a special program to be opened (e.g. .xls, .doc, etc.) click the View button in the Preview panel.
To see the contents of a file stored in Resources or use a file in some other way, right click it and choose Export. In the Export window that opens, browse to the path you want to use for exporting the file and click Export. To replace an existing file use Replace.
To configure a File resource, browse for the desired file and click Open. The file will then be copied to a catalog on the server.
