An External file resource can be used to gain direct access to files on the server or via an FTP server or Internet. By using an External file resource you can ensure that files you use are always up to date. An External file resource can be used as logo, in a Spreadsheet view, a PDF view or a Resources listview. An external file resource can also be used as a source in Transformer, e.g. an Excel source or an OpenOffice Calc source.
To configure a External file resource, double click it to open the dialog. An External file resource has these properties:
Name
Name - the name "External file resource" is generated automatically but it may be changed
Description - an optional text describing the External file resource
Configuration
Date - by default this is the date when the file was added. However, you can enter a date that is relevant for the file, e.g. indicating which period the file is for.
Organization - you can specify which organization the resource belongs to. This functionality is used in connection with Resources listview.
Model object - click the icon on the right and select the Model Object the File Resource should be associated with
Date and Organization are assigned to files that are generated by Reporter.
Audit
Modified by - the name of the last user to make changes to the object.
Last modified - the date and time when the object was last changed.
Created by - the name of the user who created the object.
Created - the date and time when the object was created.
Resource - click the desired alternative in the list. Choose from the following:
Shared file
FTP server
SFTP server - secure FTP
HTTP server
HTTPS server - secure HTTP
If your Corporater BMP solution is integrated with Xledger and the custom resource is required to connect to the Xledger GraphQL endpoint, select 'HTTPS
server'.
Depending on which resource type you choose, you must enter some or all of the following information:
User name - this is the user name for logging on to the server
Password - this is the password for logging on to the server
Host - the FTP/SFTP or HTTP/HTTPS server, e.g. ftp.corporater.com, or the IP address
If your Corporater BMP solution is integrated with Xledger and the custom resource is required to connect to the Xledger GraphQL endpoint, enter 'www.xledger.net'.
Port - the port number to be used
If your Corporater BMP solution is integrated with Xledger and the custom resource is required to connect to the Xledger GraphQL endpoint, enter '443'.
Absolute path - the path to the resource. An example showing the format to use is displayed under the field.
The Absolute path may not contain white space.
If your Corporater BMP solution is integrated with Xledger and the custom resource is required to connect to the Xledger GraphQL endpoint, enter
'/graphql'.
If the resource is hosted on the SFTP server, the path mustn't include the default directory '/sftp'.
ID
ID - a unique ID for the object.
By
default, Corporater BMP assigns consecutive numbers to new objects.
You can change the ID to a value of choice that can include either letters or letter and number combinations.
The ID mustn't contain only numbers, include special characters such as ) ( . * } { + < > [ ], or match the name of a default object type in Corporater BMP.
Visibility
Show Menu Button - check if you want the button that opens the Options menu for the object to be available on the web page; among other things, the Options menu contains alternatives for editing and deleting. The contents of the Options menu can be configured in Page setup.
Access control
Read accessors - click the Edit button () and authorize one or more users and user groups to view the object on Web.
Add accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to add new objects to the object on Web.
Write accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to edit the object on Web.
Delete accessors - click the Edit button() and authorize one or more users and user groups to delete the object on Web.
Ownership - click the Edit button () and grant ownership of the object to one or more users and user groups.
Users and user groups who own the object have full access rights to it.
Override access profile - select for the object's access control setting to outrank the object's corresponding access settings in profiles.
If External file resource is not available in the menu you may need to upgrade your license.
