EM (End month) is a time adjustment that refers to the last day in the month.
[node1,bop,eop-3m+em]
The following syntax is unnecessary:
[node1,bop,eop+em]
EOP will automatically include the last day of the month (= EM). It is only necessary to use EM when adding or subtracting time periods, to be sure that whole months are included, since months have different numbers of days.
Use EM if you adjust with + or - month or have an Information period other than month and only need data for the current month.
On June 30, 2012, a function with the syntax [node1,boy,eop-4m+em] will first calculate back to February 30, 2012 (i.e. the 29th since it is the last date in February 2012). EM will then be set to Feb. 29th. The same function for 2013 gives Feb. 28th, since 2013 is not a leap year.
