FORMS
A Matrix question contains several questions that share response alternatives. They are presented as a matrix in the form.
To create a Matrix question right click the Page where you want to place it and choose Add -> Matrix question.
Name
Question text – This is a header for the matrix. Here you can enter general information that pertains to all the questions in the matrix.
Name – The name used to identify the question in the Forms model. By default the name “Matrix question” is used, and the Name field is empty. When you enter a question in the Question text field, that text will be used as the question name, and the Name field will still be empty. You can override using the question text as name by entering a different text in the Name field.
If the Question text is long you can make the list more readable if you enter a shorter text in the Name field.
Configuration
Require answer – If this field is checked the question must be answered before the form can be submitted.
Subquestions - this is where you create the subquestions to be displayed in the matrix. Right click in the table and choose Add subquestion
Question text - Enter the text for the subquestion by clicking the field and entering.
Node – The node to which the subquestion is connected, i.e. where the response (data) will be stored. To use a specific node that already exists in the database, click the icon to the right to choose from a list. If nothing is specified the node that applies to the whole Matrix question will be used. See also Autogenerating nodes.
Organization – the organization for which the response to the subquestion should be stored. By default the organization that applies to the whole Matrix question will be used, but to select a specific organization for a subquestion click the icon to the right and choose from the list.
Node type – Choose the node type where the data is to be stored: "Actual", "Budget", etc. Click the icon to the right to choose from a list. If nothing is specified the node type that applies to the whole Matrix question will be used.
Alternatives - the response alternatives to be presented in the Matrix. They are the same for all the questions defined above. Right click in the table and choose Add response alternatives.
Text – Enter the text for the alternative by clicking the field and entering.
Value – The value that will be stored in the database. You should enter a different value for each alternative; default is “0”.
Consider whether you should include alternatives such as "Don't know" or "Do not wish to answer". You may want to use a separate node type for
such alternatives.
Node type - Choose the node type where the data for this response alternative is to be stored: "Actual", "Budget", etc. E.g. you may want to use a separate node type for "Don't know". Click the icon to the right to choose from a list. If nothing is specified the node type that applies to the subquestion will be used.
Context

The node specified here will be the parent node of the nodes for subquestions when autogenerating is used, i.e. the nodes will be generated under this node.
Node type – Choose the node type where the data for the Matrix question is to be stored: "Actual", "Budget", etc. Click the icon to the right to choose from a list. Organization – the organization for which the responses to the Matrix question should be stored. By default the organization for which the form is distributed is used, but to select a specific organization click the icon to the right and choose from the list.
