Organization mapping

Use an Organization mapping process to manually connect data found in streams to organizations in the BMP system, i.e. describe how data from the source is to be connected to the target organizations. Organization mapping is static. It is usually used with an Organization Target which has automatic organization creation built in.

Creating an Organization mapping process

To create an Organization mapping process, right click in the Transformer design panel, choose Process -> Organization mapping. Connect it to the previous process as described in Processes. Double click the object to configure it.

In the Table column drop-down at the top of the screen, choose the column from the source that contains the data to be used as organization ID.

When the column has been selected, the left-hand panel will contain the values from the selected Source column.

The right-hand panel shows the organizations that are available. You can search for a specific organization by writing the search criterion in the Search field and clicking the Search icon .

To choose which data from the Source to map to which Target organization(s) click the desired value(s) in the left-hand panel. Hold down the Ctrl button for multiple selection. A Function consisting of the Table column name and the selected values will be displayed in the Function field in the middle of the screen. It is also possible to enter selection criteria manually, using valid syntax.

Then mark the correct Target organization in the right-hand panel, and click the Add button to add a new organization mapping.

The organization mapping rules will now be displayed at the bottom of the screen, under Function and Destination, e.g. ${Organization ID}="100.0" in Function and "100 Norway" in Destination means that records with Organization ID = 100 in the source are mapped to the organization with ID = "100" and Name = "Norway".

To change a mapping rule, mark it, then mark the correct value in the top left-hand column and/or the correct organization in the top right-hand column and click the Change button.

Use the Up and Down buttons to the right to change the order of the mapping criteria.

Depending on the rules you have defined, their order may be important.

Use the Remove button to delete mapping.

Organization mapping uses only the number of rows specified in Max preview rows. I.e. if Max preview rows is set to 100, only the first 100 rows in the source will be mapped. Default value is 5000. You may want to set it lower during development, but remember to increase it again when you have finished creating and testing your project and are ready to run it, to make sure all rows are included in the run.
